The stunning glass greenhouses of Shady Hill are Dutch and we have had greenhouses in Elburn since 1992.  The retail Garden Center greenhouses were built in 1998 and we opened for our first spring in Elburn in 1999, after operating our Batavia greenhouse since 1974.  During the summer of 2007, we moved everything to our Elburn location and have been growing all of our plants here, since then.

The spring is our main season and we are open from the tail end of March through the Fourth of July.  At that time, gardeners from all over Chicagoland make the trip to Shady Hill Gardens, for our famous geraniums, as well as a wide range of home grown annuals, herbs, perennials, vegetables and breathtaking planters.  We are also open from Labor Day through October with mums, and many other autumn plants, as well as our Pick Your Own Cut Flowers and Pick Your Own Tomatoes.  When the end of November rolls around, the greenhouses are jam packed with colorful poinsettias in many sizes and colors.  No matter the season, you can always find an assortment of fresh, high quality plants and our friendly, knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you.
